Dear VALL Members,
Per Article IV of our Association’s Bylaws, this message serves as notice of proposed amendments to the VALL Constitution, 30 days prior to the meeting of the Association at which they will be presented for discussion.
Per Articles VII and VIII of the VALL Constitution, the Executive Board proposes these amendments to both our Bylaws and Constitution, effectively merging and consolidating the two documents into a single, new VALL Bylaws document, among other changes that we consider beneficial. Please review the documents linked below that present and explain the proposed amendments:
- Explanation of Proposed VALL Bylaws.pdf
- Proposed VALL Bylaws CLEAN VERSION.pdf
- Proposed VALL Bylaws MARKUP VERSION.pdf
At the VALL Fall Meeting on October 15, the proposed amendments will be presented for discussion and may be amended, provided that the amendment is consistent with the original proposed constitutional amendment. If approved by two-thirds of the members present and voting at the Fall Meeting, the final version of the amendment will be presented to the entire membership for final decision by electronic ballot, facilitated by AALL’s Online Elections platform.
Voting on the adoption of the amendments will open on October 15 and close on November 15. All active, eligible VALL members will receive balloting credentials from AALL by the beginning of this period, and will be able to vote regardless of membership status with AALL.
To ensure your eligibility to vote, make sure that your 2024-2025 VALL membership dues are paid no later than October 4, when the list of eligible voters is sent to AALL.
Thank you, and please contact us or another member of the VALL Executive Board with any questions.
Sincerely,
Andrew Christensen
